Photo Album

February 28th, 2008

At last, I we have found a photo album that works with our web host. We tried Menalto’s Gallery and Plogger - none of which would work with the php.ini settings used by Streamline.net

We have now settled on ZenPhoto. The link to the gallery is on the right.

MOT Passed - We have takeoff

February 28th, 2008

Yesterday the car passed it’s MOT. It has been off the road for over 18 months and with just a little bit of work it passed. We’re chuffed to bits. We were worried that it would need more work.

Richard has cleaned the car, waxed the bodywork and after a spash of tyre paint tomorrow it will be ready.

Where there any advisories during the MOT? Nope - not a sausage. It means any work we now do on the MG is non-essential. We have plans… watch this space…..

Will it pass?

February 24th, 2008

With the car being used next week for Richard’s wedding there were several jobs to complete on the car before we could send it to the garage for it’s MOT.

Sometime ago we fitted a strap to the rear suspension. These fasten the rear axel to the frame of the car offering extra support for the car. For some reason we never fastened the strap to the car and so the old one was still hanging there. So we fixed this today.

OUr second job today was to look for a crack in the rear axel. Since purchasing the car in 2005 we have had a leak from the rear axel oil reservoir. Two years ago we replaced (or thought we did) the bolt where you put the oil. Seems we must have done this and so the oil was leaking. So….. we put some white plumbing tape around the bolt and it stopped the leak. Simple things like this need sorting out sooner.

Finally, Ken had found (we don’t ask where) some wheel rims which we cleaned up with some TCut and put them on the car. Pictures will follow when I get the gallery up and running again.

MOT is this week…..

2008 - Work begins

February 18th, 2008

In the post dated 28 April 2006 I wrote about the Midget failing it’s MOT. It passed on the 5th June 2006 and since then has had no work done on it at all.

During 2007 we let the MOT, the tax and the insurance lapse as the car stayed in the garage quietly resting. Things have to change.

Richard (one of the co-owners in case you have forgotten) is getting married and the happy couple want to use the car on their wedding day. Not a problem, but with two weeks to go we have our work cut out getting the car ready for MOT. The advisory in the previous MOT has been fixed :

  • 007 Offside trunion steering pivot point has slight play (2.2.B.1g)
  • We have checked the lights and I am in the process of re-quoting the insurance with Lancaster Insurance. I’m not sure whether or not we will stay with this company, but I will get a quote. My main daily use car is insured with Tesco - I’ll give them a try as well.

    The website wakes up…..

    February 18th, 2008

It has been a while since I posted here (almost a year) about the MG. There have been reasons.

The main one being the demise of our website. Once again the provider I chose to host the website went into some sort of blackhole. Luckily I managed to get backups of the Wordpress database before they went forever. This was the end of 2007.

We are now with a new webhost. The website is back. We have a new header logo and I think it looks a lot better.
